We are going to tell you about D's which stand for Daily, Oral, and then a school subject. For example, D.O.G. stands for Daily Oral Geography, also there is Daily Oral Math, Language, and Analogies. In general we call them D's (not to be confused with the letter grade). We get 9 weeks worth of Ds at one tim e. Each D is worth 5 coupons if we turn them in on Monday.D.O.L. is worth ten coupons if it's turned in by Monday. It's a good idea to turn them in by Wednesday at Mrs. Truby's desk because they're due on Friday and she'll give them back until you get a grade. The worst you can get is an A unless you turn it in late, we've listed a description of, in our opinion, the D's from easiest to hardest.
D.O.G.
D.O.G. asks for things such as: capitals, locations, directions, and comparisons. At the beginning of the year Mrs. Truby gives us an atlas and a glossary in the atlas to help, or we use the internet. Est. time 5-10 min.
D.O.A.
D.O.A. is all made up of analogies mostly made up of synonyms and antonyms. Some can be easy such as apple is to lemon as red is to (yellow), and some can be hard like the picture analogies. Sometimes we use the computer to look up definitions, some D.O.A. questions can be difficult and others can be easy and easy to figure out. Est. time:10-20min
D.O.L.
There are two parts to D.O.L.; grading a paper she gives us with 9-10 sent. that have mistakes on them, and once we correct it we write it out the right way. D.O.L. is the only D you don't turn into Mrs. Truby. If you have done it before the differences are that we grade it together, don't turn it in at Mrs. Truby's desk, We usually do Friday's D.O.L. with Thursday's ,and it is harder. Also the person of the day gets to grade D.O.L. on the SmartBoard. It's a good idea to do D.O.L. over the weekend, if you accidentally forget to do D.O.L. Mrs. Truby will give us a pass to go do it in the forum. Est. time 15-20 min.
D.O.M.
D.O.M. is the hardest of the four D's (and that's hardly an opinion). Were required to answer 3 out of 5 of the questions and list the strategies on the side of the paper. For every extra one we do we get bonus coupons, as the year goes on D.O.M. gets easier because we know all the strategies to get our answer. Est. time 15-20 min.
